Eyebot’s vision was simple, but revolutionary: affordable, self-administered eye exams for everyone.
With machine learning and infrared technology at its core, Eyebot had built the foundation of their walk-up kiosk, a groundbreaking solution that could deliver vision tests in malls, offices, and other self-service locations.
But great technology also needs great design!
When Eyebot’s Co-founder and CTO, Jack Moldave, went searching for the right partner, he was looking for more than developers—he wanted collaborators and more than that someone local. A team who could sit in the room, observe real users at the kiosks, and immerse themselves in the design process to make magic happen. Rocket Farm Studios was thrilled to collaborate on such a groundbreaking product.

The Idea
The goal? Build a sleek, interactive user interface from scratch—one that’s not only intuitive but also makes the vision test process smooth and enjoyable.
Rocket Farm Studios aimed to create a visually engaging design that could guide users step-by-step with confidence.
Beyond aesthetics, functionality was front and center. Eyebot wanted to add features like calls to action that connected users directly to online glasses retailers. This would let users purchase glasses or get a doctor-signed prescription immediately after completing their test. Convenience and innovation needed to work hand-in-hand.
Rocket Farm Studios took Eyebot’s early prototype and turned it into a polished, intuitive experience including:
- A beautifully reimagined UI that guides users seamlessly through the vision test process.
- Smooth, engaging interactions that feel natural, even for first-time users.
- Calls to Action that integrate with online retailers, letting users order glasses or secure doctor-signed prescriptions right after their test.
The result was a user-friendly design that makes a complex technology feel effortless.

The Experience
Rocket Farm Studios started by conducting a deep dive into Eyebot’s existing code and user experience. Armed with insights, they collaborated closely with Eyebot’s founders and engineers to refine the vision and map out the user journey.
Using Figma, the team created sleek UI assets and graphics, carefully balancing functionality with aesthetic appeal. The design prioritized ease of use, clear navigation, and smooth transitions to keep users engaged from start to finish.
With the designs locked in, the development phase kicked off.
Rocket Farm Studios built the entire UI for the Android-based kiosk, crafting a seamless vision test flow while integrating new features like e-commerce and telemedicine calls to action. Every detail was rigorously tested to ensure a polished and reliable user experience.

Rocket Farm Studios took charge of designing, developing, and testing the entire user interface for the Android tablet-based kiosk. This included building a complete vision test flow and collaborating with partners to integrate features like calls to action.
The revamped UI transformed Eyebot’s vision test kiosk into a sophisticated, user-friendly platform. Users could now navigate the test effortlessly, with clear steps guiding them to complete their vision checks and seamlessly transition to purchasing glasses or obtaining a prescription.
By tackling both usability and technical debt, Rocket Farm Studios delivered a solution that enhanced the user experience while allowing Eyebot’s team to concentrate on growing their business.

Where are they now?
Eyebot’s new UI is more than a polished design; it’s the next step toward changing how we think about vision care.
Zenni, one of the leading online eyewear retailers known for offering stylish, high-quality prescription glasses and sunglasses at affordable prices has teamed up with Eyebot!
The two companies have launched the first two kiosks in Boston-area malls, with plans to roll out eight more across New England in the coming weeks and continuing into 2025.
With the new Eyebot kiosks, cutting-edge technology is transforming vision care, making eye tests and purchasing stylish eyewear easier than ever—a giant step toward accessible eye care for everyone!
The partnership between Rocket Farm Studios and Eyebot is still going strong, with exciting plans to keep rolling out upgrades and new features down the road.
